"Hi Susan, I was so overwhelmed by my trip back home
it's taken me a couple of days to adjust.
The party was great! We had around 70 family members attend.
It was sooo fun. We had a "hat" theme.
My grandma always wore hats in her later years,
so we thought it would be a nice way to remember her.
I didn't think that many people would participate but,
actually everyone really got into it!
My aunt, who hosted the party at her house, really went all out.
She organized the food. We had many of my grandma's recipes,
plus so much more. She also set up a table,
just for vintage family photos and the cookbook.
When my sister and I arrived in Tucson a couple of days before
we spent most of our time putting together photo albums of pics
that my mom was left by her old uncle.
There were some photos as old as the mid 1800s. I'm a scrapbooker,
so I loved putting these together.
We didn't put the cookbook out until after everyone ate and visited.
They wanted me to make a speech. So I read the introduction
that my sis and I wrote. There were so many teary eyes around that room.
My sis and aunt stood at the table and handed out the books.
We sold them for $10. Some people bought 10 books!
Everyone bought at least 2! We sold out in 15 minutes!!
We couldn't believe it!
For the next hour everyone went around and
asked each other for autographs on their recipe pages or photos.
My sis and I received so many thanks...it was wonderful.
Oh, we had also tied thin purple ribbons at the top of the
binding of each book and tied a silver heart to one end to use as a bookmark. It looked really nice!
Well, anyway, it was a great day for our entire family."

"Susan, needless to say the cookbooks were a huge hit!
We presented the color cookbook to the bride and groom at their rehearsal dinner and they were ecstatic!
I later learned that they each spent the night looking through the book
w/ their parents and were moved to tears. Everyone was so pleased
with the final product and as predicted, SO many people who initially
did not order one, now want one. The bride told me at the reception
that the book represented her dream cookbook filled with all the recipes of her and her groom's childhoods, mixed with the favorite recipes
of her family and friends.
You are right, all the work was more than worth it.

upon their wedding and all the love and support their families
